Chocolate is a usually sweet, brown food preparation of roasted and ground cacao seeds that is made in the form of a liquid, paste, or in a block, or used as a flavoring ingredient in other foods. Chocolate is a gift for many occasions, days and events, from Valentine's Day to Easter, it essentially makes the world go round which is why it's not surprpising that there's an entire festival dedicated to it! The Chocolate Festival...a two day long showcase of chocolate from all over the world.
Event organiser, Darielle Robertson, said, ”A truly sublime experience awaits everyone both young and old and we really will have something for everyone to savour.” You will need to prepare your sweet tooth for a chocolate line up of gastronomical proportions and many other sweet delights from chocolate, macaroons, decadent chocolate brownies, indulgent donuts, deliciously creamy (and dreamy) ice-cream, liquorice, marshmallows, candyfloss and so much more. A lot of non-chocolate food will also be sold at the event, hamburgers, pizzas, charcuterie, bread and artisanal cheeses.
Over and above the goodies there is so a lot your children can look forward to, a movie (Charlie And The Chocolate Factory perhaps?) with popcorn in the movie lounge and face paintings while a liquor section will be set up for those with less of a sweeth tooth and more of an alcoholic one. The Chocolate Festival takes place at The Woodmill in Stellenbosch from 31 August to 1 September (10am-4pm) daily. Tickets are available for R180 (adults) and R50 (children under 18) and can be bought via Webtickets. Every pre-booked adult ticket comes with a complimentary goodie bag, while the children's ticket comes a complimentary milkshake, popcorn or ice cream.
