If you’ve ever been up Table Mountain before then congratulations because you ascended on an award winning mountain. On the 1st of June 2019, Table Mountain was officially awarded the accolade of Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the Africa and Indian Ocean World Travel Awards in Mauritius.
The award ceremony was founded to award excellence in the tourism sector. Contenders for the same category include the Eyptian Pyramids of Giza, Mount Kilimanjaro, Ngorogoro crater in Tanzania, Robben Island and V & A Waterfront so Cape Town was clearly the top contender.
Annually Table Mountain sees nothing less than a million visitors and this number is constantly growing with each year especially now that it’s an award winning mountain. Accepting the award on behalf of Table, was the Mountain Cableway's Managing Director, Wahida Parker.
