Heritage Day is a popular South African public holiday, it is a day in which all are encouraged to celebrate their cultural traditions in the wider context of the great diversity of cultures, beliefs, and traditions that make up the nation of South Africa.
Officially, it's an annual celebration of South African culture, both tangible and intangible, so music, language and comedy has as much place on the agenda as historical inheritance or the food that we eat which is why S.A Comedy Shares has put together a proudly South African line up to celebrate this month the best way they know how with the #HeritageMonthComedyShow.
The idea was conceptualized by the founder of S.A Comedy Shares, Pius Xulu after a thought dawned about him, “What have you done for the community lately that involves showing support and encourages peoples Heritage and Culture to be celebrated?” Pius Xulu under his company, which also manages comedians, says the ultimate intent with this show is to create employment and a regular source of income for local comedians. The line up will see both new and established acts:
Comedian and Skit Maker - Liya Nqaba - From Krugersdorp
Comedienne and Ukelele player - Sophie Joans - From Port Elizabeth
Comedienne and Skit Maker - Hlumela Hlalom - From Khayelitsha
Comedian and Skit Maker - Zwelimkhandile - From Kraaifontein
Comedienne - Mira - From Gugulethu
Comedian and Skit Maker - Gurere - Kraaifontein
Poet - NnanaThePoet - From Pretoria
Comedian duo - Hlekuncame Entertainment - From Kraaifontein
Comedian & professional Actor - Jaryd Pillay - From Cape Town
The host for the show will be none other than Pius Xulu himself at Bertha Movie House, Ekuphumleni on the 27th of September at 8pm. Tickets are R100 on Webtickets as well as your nearest Pick "n"Pay outlet.
#HeritageMonthComedyShow is guaranteed to be a total and completely awesome and epic night of laughter and fun all around and we are certain that with this show opening the doors, each year the shows will be bigger and better.
