If you are familiar at all with Cape Town’s entertainment “word on the street” then you might have heard of Cape Town Unwired. This is an endeavor to seek out the hottest talent in the Mother City from solo artists, bands and DJs, whether you are already famous or an obscure artiste it would be pure insanity to miss this opportunity. The event commences on Thursday 20 June at what has become one of Cape Town’s hottest entertainment spots, Nomad Bistro.
Austin Fernandez, the event organiser, had this to say, “We are very excited to introduce the best of Cape Town’s unknown talent to the world, we’ve all watched Idols, America’s Got Talent and Battle Of The Bands, in precisely a week we witness the dawn of Cape Town Unwired.” The event will be partnering with many exciting brands including Paul Bothner Music, a full-service musical instrument and equipment retailer, Campus Of Performing Arts (COPA) and Newlands Spring Brewing company, manufacturers of the finest craft beer since 1856.
One of the judges of the event is Tecla Ciolfi, the founder and editor of Texx and the City one of the leading musical news online magazines in South Africa. Tecla has vast experience in the music and entertainment industry in general which ranges from journalism, radio presenting, event curation and artist management. Over the years she has acquired multiple accolades from the Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans (2015), House & Leisure’s Rising Stars (2015) and one of Memeburn’s 50 Most Prominent SA Journalists on Twitter (2011).
After the two month live contest series, lucky winners will be awarded with great prizes including, R22 000 that will be split among the three categories. As well as a six month media contract, goodie bags and vouchers from various brands.
