21 June was International Yoga Day and to celebrate Earthchild Project and Yoga instructor Joelle Sleebos’s Dharma Project will be hosting a free yoga event on 22 June. International Day of Yoga, or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on 21 June since its inception in 2015. An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice whose origins are from originated India.
The event will take place at 14 Hope Street in Gardens after the International. The best way to describe the event is that it is a mini yoga festival and is composed of yoga sessions that take place throughout the morning all the way through the afternoon. A market selling everything related to yoga will also be set up. Items on sale include but are not limited to mats, yoga pants and sports bras.
A raffle draw will be conducted and one of the many possible prizes you stand to win include free yoga classes and props. The draw is in support of the Earthchild Project.
One of the organisations curating the event, Dharma Project founded by Joelle Sleebos who is a reknown yoga instructor originally from the Netherlands based in Cape Town.
Admission for the event is free but donations in any form will be appreciated.
