Nothing beats a cold beer while you're all cosied up away from the winter cold, which is why it probably would be a lot of fun to combine the two. The Woodstock Winter Beer Festival is an annual event curated by hosted by Drifter Brewing Company and it takes place on Saturday 27 July at Castle Of Good Hope from 1-8pm. Running for five years the festival has succeeded in attracting audiences from far and wide from hardcore beer guzzlers or ladies and gentlemen merely looking for a good afternoon out during the Mother City's winter season.
The goal of the festival is simple: To bring together creative one off beers and ciders brewed by 20 local microbreweries in the Western Cape region. Festival co-founder and organiser Anna Anderson had this to say, "Supporting local businesses builds community and that’s really what this day is all about, Every year we add, change or upgrade elements of the day to keep both the patrons and vendors excited to keep coming back." Breweries supporting the festival include:

Fun and games will also be included at the festival with the inclusion of beer blogger Lucy Corne who is a strategic partner of The Woodstock Winter Beer Festival and has devised games like a karaoke match up with singing at the stands to promote the various brands. The chief aim of the festival in 2019 is to become more environment friendly. In the last few years the festival goers would drink from plastic cups, that would be disposed of as soon as the drink is finished, this year everyone attending will be provided with a branded glass mug which can be taken home and used many more times. All this will be included in the ticket price. There will be food stalls and no alcoholic drink for the designated drivers.
