From Salt Circle Arcade’s hidden inner-city food truck gathering to Oudekraal’s glittering ocean views, the food-truck scene in Cape Town has plenty to offer. With over thirty six beer trucks that drive around the city, it's hard to figure out which one is worth your time. One definitely worth looking out for is Jack Black's Beer's Awesome Food Truck.
Inspired by the launch of Jack Black Brewery, this beer-centric food truck offers glorious fresh beer-battered hake and skinny fries to pair with your favourite beers at food-and-drink festivals and events around the city. Beyond that they have an event dubbed "Food Truck Friday," which happens every last Friday at their Taproom in Diep River, Cape Town. It's a surreal event that encompasses live music, delicious food and what Jack Black is best known for, epic craft beers perfectly brewed to quench your thirst. Jack Black also gives back to the community with their charitable event, Pint Of Purpose which carries a different theme every month.
Jack Black Brewing Co. was founded in 2007 by Ross and Meghan McCulloch with the sole mandate of giving a fresh perspective to the craft beer industry. Having spent much time in North America and it's craft beer culture they realised there was room for improvement in the South African craft beer scene. Since inception Jack Black Brewery Co. is a family owned business that has become a force to be reckoned with, once you go "Jack Black you can never go back."
If you your schedule doesn't allow you to attend Food Truck Friday at least find time to visit their Taproom and Brewery open during the week from Wednesday to Saturday for brewery tours and tastings and full menu of amazing food, from their famous Butcher Block burger to their vegan salads.
