The Capetonian trio, consisting of Cameron Munro on guitar and lead vocals, Bruce Burnt on bass guitar and backup vocals, and James Codner on drums, has been steadily climbing the ranks since their formation as a group in early 2017. They are recognized for their carefree persona, sing-a-long choruses, and punchy energetic delivery. POOCH blends classic 60’s surf romance with a modern reckless edge to create a sound that has been described as “garage-infused surf punk”. The rhythmic section is solid and immersive, providing a foundation upon which vocalist Cameron Munros’ consistently addictive hooks really shine.
We caught up with POOCH to chat about their future plans and Tequila. Check out how it went:
1. Tell us your favorite Tequila story.
Better off not remembering them at all.
2. What’s your take on the current state of Cape Town’s live music scene?
Cape Town’s live music scene really is flourishing at the moment. Loads of great local bands, as well as venues giving a great platform for up and coming acts. It’s really cool to be a part of such an incredible scene.
3. Congratulations on making the line-up for the International Tequila Festival 2019. What can we expect from your set?
Thank you for letting us be a part of this insane lineup! Our goal is to bring as much energy as possible, really give the people something to remember us by.
4. What’s your favorite summer activity/experience in Cape Town?
5. Which is your favorite Tequila that you recommend to your friends and why?
A free Tequila! Why? Because everyone loves free shit!
