Mishka Patel is one of the faces of SABC 2's hit magazine show, Pasella. But at only 25 she has an extensive resume including being a Miss South Africa 2014 Top 12 finalist, Miss Veet 2014 Runner up and being a Top 10 finalist in SABC 3's presenter search and Miss Earth South Africa 2014 respectively. Above all she is a small town girl from Idasvalley in Stellenbosch who is living her dream in Cape Town and beyond.
Q: What has been your top 3 experiences on the Television scene in South Africa?
A: 1: Sky Diving in Malmesbury and overcoming one of my greatest fears: Heigts.
2. Meeting local yet powerful South African Celebrities and getting the opportunity to learn from them is pretty exciting.
3. Haha, getting to drive a tractor in Villiersdorp while shooting an insert was pretty fun too! (All these inserts were done at various little 'dorpies' in the Western Cape, hidden gems if I may say so myself)
Q: What are your 3 best experiences in Cape Town as a city?
A: Cape Town has it's own unique vibe, people, food and living here is just an experience on it's own. I can't explain it but it's the reason why I haven't moved to JHB yet, neither would I ever. For one, I've climbed Table Mountain probably 13 times in my life, and Lion's head is just as stunning. You can never ever get bored living here, there's always something to do, for every person. The wine routes are gorgeous, the nighlife in the city is always incredible and there's ALWAYS something happening.
Q: If you had to tell a tourist to go for one activity on his last day in Cape Town, which one would it be?
A: Cliche if I say to climb Table Mountain and take a cable car down?
Q: What is your advice to upcoming kids looking to make a career on TV?
A: Listen, I never studied to become a TV presenter. It started with a dream. I worked hard. I had to believe in myself and push myself, get out of my comfort zone and make it all happen. But I did. And if I could, a small town girl from Idasvalley in Stellenbosch, then so you can you. BELIEVE.
Q: What's the greatest fear you've had to overcome to get where you are today?
A: Honestly, the fear of myself always standing in my own way. I had so much doubt when it came to my capabilities and self-confidence. BUT, when I decided to break those barriers, the world became my biggest stage. The thing is, never doubt the power of believing in yourself and self confidence.
Q: What's the one thing you'd like to achieve in 2018?
A: There's a whole list. And it scares me - but that's what makes life interesting. I have a TON of goals and dreams, and I'm so excited to share them with you one goal at a time. For now, you have to follow my social platforms to see what they are ;)
Q: What is your biggest passion in life?
A: I aspire to inspire and I live to help and change lives where I can- It might sound ridiculous, but even if it's just one or two lives, even if I simply leave a little seed of hope behind. My biggest passion in life has to be helping young girls with my Mishka Patel Success Classes - Sharing, encouraging and listening.
