The Ice Slides Make A Return At Cape Gate

Updated: Jun 20, 2019

Have you been thinking of sliding on ice lately, not to worry, your favorite ice slides at Cape gate mall are back! Just one tip though, get there early because it gets super busy! There are three different toboggan style ice slides , a 28m long curved slide, a 24m long dipper as well as a 1.5m kiddie’s slide, which are all made from real ice. It looked like so much fun. I was really tempted to go down one myself however I totally chickened out *hides*.

The experience involves you entering into a magical ice age-themed world at Capegate Shopping Centre which started on the 14th of June all the way up to the 7th of July.

The obstacles you face are three different toboggan-style ice slides. This year you and your family can also try out a 28m long curved slide, a 24m long dipper as well as a 1.5m kiddie’s slide, which are all made from real ice and were not part of the slide in the past few years.

The children also get to play with real ice at the Ice Play Station. The area also features seven different, life-sized animals that lived during the ice age. All animals are set to simulate their natural environment and habitat of their time. You can learn all about the Woolly Mammoth, Saber-toothed Tiger, Irish elk, Terror Bird and Glyptodon.

Tickets cost a mere R80 for a full rider, R50 for a mini rider and just R30 for a non-rider. These tickets are all valid for a 45 minute sliding session and include the ice age animal expo, which are available at the event entrance as well as online via Web Tickets.
