Hamilton Rugby Stadium, 1 - 3 November 2019 - It was all Mexican Sombreros and the dancing shoes were on for Cape Town’s first-ever International Tequila Festival 2019, proudly sponsored and supported by SOL Beer. The festival ran for three days and hosted over 8000 Tequila and Mezcal enthusiasts. The event saw locals and tourists alike from all parts of the world flock into the Mother City for the Mexican themed fiesta. The Festival featured over 30 different Tequila bottles.
The International Tequila Festival 2019 had a variety of Mexican food with amazing vendors offering Chilli Poppers, Nachos, Burritos, Tacos, Tequila hot Wings, Cheesy Bacon Fries, Mexican themed Pizza, Quesadillas and Huervos Ranchero. The gaming area was abuzz with popular Mexican themed and influenced games from Mechanical Bull Riding, Tequila Body shots and everything in-between. On decks, DJ Lemon, DJ Blackwiz and DJ RobFather kept the dance floor busy throughout the festival.
The #TequilaFest showcased live the legendary Rock n Roll iconic band Prime Circle, ever so groovy The Kiffness (David Scott DJ Set) and Biggy as the live performances headline acts respectively. The Festival also served as a platform to Cape Town’s most talented undiscovered and unsigned bands that got the opportunity to share the stage with the headliners. The bands included The Vanilla Colts, Emma-Jean, Forest Keys, Kontras, The Betsie Beers, PHLO, Jakkal The Bones, The Guy Is Alive and other fresh new proudly Capetownian talent, a total of 28 local bands over the three days.
