The Association of Southern African Travel Agents, simply known as ASATA, was formed in 1956 as a representative forum registered as an Association of Persons, their mission is to encourage, foster and promote professionalism in the travel industry. As of 30 August 2019, ASATA in partnership with World Travel Market (WTM) Africa launched the ASATA Travel Agents’ Academy.
The Academy is composed of 45 minute training sessions with content being disseminated. It will be hosted at the annual WTM Africa, Africa's largest B2B travel and tourism trade show on the 8th of April 2020 in the Destination Theatre. The sessions are expected to be highly beneficial to travel consultants who are interested in attending. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon the Academy's conclusion. ASATA CEO Otto de Vries had this to say about the benefits of attending the Academy, “The ASATA Professional Programme is a key initiative aimed at driving professionalism within the travel sector. We are thrilled to be entering into this partnership with WTM Africa which will enhance opportunities for travel consultants to achieve their SAQA-accredited designations.”
Registration for the ASATA Travel Agents’ Academy can be done online on the World Travel Market Africa website.
